Skills: Students learn how to utilize academic database, summarize an article, reword or paraphrase, and apply APA writing style.
Values: Students will understand the importance of a literature to discern the unmet needs in child welfare
Cognitive & Affective: Students apply critical thinking and affective reactions in evaluating multiple sources of information
The first purpose of the literature review is to give you an opportunity to broaden
your knowledge of unmet needs in Child Welfare by writing a review of 6 scholarly
resources about an area in child welfare that are not being met; for example prevention
early, intervention program, non-intensive services, community services, and supports, child
welfare and juvenile justice etc. You may use any choices or an area outside of the areas above.
You must use primary research sources such as recent books and current professional journal
articles. Websites of professional journal articles. Websites of professional organizations, annual
conferences and well-known leadership centers. Provide relevant and current information.
Provide evidence from your research that there is a problem and then provide what can be done
to provide better service delivery based your findings.
What is your hypothesis. You should write in third person and link the sources in a continuous
flow of ideas. Expected length of the assignment is 6-10 pages not counting the cover page
Abstract and the reference page, remember to use correct APA 7th edition form and style
throughout the assignment. Include page numbers and level headings. Two Social work journals
must be cited and included on the reference page. All citations must be included on the reference
page.

Explain how the information contributes to the gaps in the child welfare field
Create an overall summary at the end of the literature review indicating what you learn about the
topics
Provide a reference listing using the current APA format of all citations used in the assignment.

THE UNMET NEED IN CHILD WELFARE IS: The stigmas in African American
communities that can lead in mental illness such as depression and
anxiety.
