Systematic desensitization of multiple phobias. In order to treat a woman suffering from several phobias which include a fear of dogs, flying, and receiving injections, a clinical psychologist wishes to use systematic desensitization treatment in which the patient will be directly and gradually exposed to the very objects which she fears. To assess treatment, the dependent variable measured will be self-reported ratings of anxiety. Design a study using a multiple baseline design, graph possible results of a successful intervention, and provide interpretation of the results discussed. Describe any limitations of your study and provide suggestions for improvement that could be incorporated into a follow-up study.
Self-Abusive Behavior of an Autistic Child. You are a clinician attempting to reduce self-abusive behavior in a 5 year-old autistic boy.
