In either case, the concept is the same; the difference is how thepassword hashes are obtained. There are many tools available to perform thistask. To help give an understanding of these tools, this activity will have youexplore some of these tools and analyze them to find the right fit for you andyour organization.

Extract thepassword hashes from a machine.
With theextracted password hashes, try to crack them using the program selected inthe previous step.
Submit anobfuscated list of users and cracked passwords, or output generated fromthe program.
Provide asummary of the penetration test plan contents needed to conduct thepassword penetration activity.
Add adiscussion about types of penetration tests, the discussion about the method toextract passwords, and the list of obfuscated passwords to your report. Uponcompletion of this discussion provide a paragraph on the processes andprocedures you will need to implement to create the password recoverypenetration test plan.
