Paper Topic:
Analyze the dynamics of Blackberry. Specifically, competitive challenges of BlackBerry.
Paper Requirements:
1. Report discusses a topical or current issue in microeconomics, analyzes and demonstrates the use and understanding of relevant economic concepts in order to shed light on the topic and concludes with suggested policy directions (either the firm or the government) or a validation or further questions in economics that your report raise.
2. About 10 pp.(Max 13 pages): font size 12, double space text, tables, graphs
3. The Group is expected to use about 5 other references other than the slides used in class lectures.
Specifically, in the report could you mention supply and demand the oligopoly market which Blackberry faces (how large the company was at 1 point in time compared to the current shares it holds in the global market), some creative distraction the company faced such as using oligopoly behaviour by using competitors ideas like having to compete with Apple iPhones and implementing touch screen technology in their products (e.g; Blackberry Bold 9780 upgraded to a touch screen in their next Blackberry Bold 9900 product). Anything else is entirely up to you.
