Approaching your paper:
1.Read as many primary and secondary sources as possible.
2.Gain a broad understanding of the context of your topic, the involvement of some important individuals, any relevant dates (e.g. beginning of the event or activity), and a general idea of the trajectory of the topic.
3.Narrow down your topic by writing stating the topic question or objective of the paper.
4.Identify 2-3 main points that support your “historical argument”. Collect examples from your primary sources as evidence to support your claims.
Describe “what” happened, but then focus your paper on the analytical questions: Why did this happen? What influenced it to happen? Why did the issue arise at that particular time? Etc.
