The Course Capstone Project involves evaluating a public health program that addresses a public health problem in your community. The project is sustained throughout the course. You are expected to complete work on your Course Capstone Project each week and meet regularly with your learning team for peer feedback.
Read Chapter 36, Section 5. Developing an Evaluation Plan of the Community Tool Box from the University of Kansas Center for Community Health and Development.
Your tasks this week are to:
Develop an evaluation plan to address the following evaluation questions:
How well was the program planned and implemented?
How well has the program met its stated goals and objectives?
What effect has the program had on its target audience?
What effect has the program had on the community?
Did any unintended consequences occur that undermined the success of the program?
Consider the following evaluation methods:
Process measures that measure how well the program was implemented
Outcome measures that measure the program results
An observational system to monitor the program in action
Write a summary of your evaluation plan that describes:
The stakeholders you would need to work with and answer to when performing and presenting the evaluation
A summary of the program being evaluated
The programs objectives and goals
A logic model to synthesize the program elements to ensure it meets its intended purpose
35 metrics that would be used to determine whether objectives, goals, and other desirable outcomes have been met
Discussion of the evaluation methods appropriate for the program
