Cultural Comparison Storyboard
You will select two (2) competing organizations (e.g., Coffee Bean and Starbucks;
Target and Walmart, etc.) and collect data from / about each organization. Data may
include interviews and observations, advertisements, general environmental scans,
Internet materials, reports, or pictures.
Once the data has been collected, compare and contrast the two organizations. Using
the concepts from our course and other research you do, analyze how each
organization develops and supports its culture through various messages and how it
strategically positions and differentiates itself from their competition.
This project does NOT ask you to report your findings in a paper; instead, you will
create a storyboard in PowerPoint that compares and contrasts the two organizations
and tells their story visually and in text in the form of speaker notes.
? Your PPT should be 10-12 slides with speaking notes (excluding title page
and reference page(s). Please cite and reference your research appropriately.
? You may put your speaker notes in the speaker note portion of PPT
? Please do not put your speaker notes in a separate document, everything
should be within your PPT presentation.
? ALSO, please do not save your PPT as a pdf. It must stay in PPT so that I
can read your speaker notes.
The discussion is on teams in organizations.
The discussion is separated into three different discussion posts:
Tues: Share a positive teaming experience that you’ve had. What made it a positive
experience for you?
Wed: Share a not so positive experience. What made it a negative experience for you?
Thurs: Your boss has asked you to present a checklist for good teaming. She has
asked you to have two sections:
(1) Attributes of a good team and/or a good teammate, and
(2) Poor teaming behaviors to avoid.
Post a short summary of week one here (2-3 paragraphs). For example, you can
comment on anything that surprised you, what really resonated, key takeaways,
or anything else you want to note.
