Individual Assignment, “Flowchart Improvement Process.” The purpose of this assignment is for students to learn process flowcharting/improving a process and summarizing the results. For the Week 1 assignment, students are asked to use the following resources:Microsoft® PowerPoint® (or other software including Vizio®, Word,etc.). Follow the steps below:
Select a complex process from your personal life or work. This should be something you are very familiar with.
Use Microsoft® PowerPoint® (or other software including Vizio®, Word, etc.) to create a flowchart of the as-is process.
Define metrics and measure the current process. (Metrics means measurements with some form of numerical values associated)
Use process improvement techniques to improve the process. (The results should be positive for you in the outcome)
Use Microsoft® PowerPoint® (or other software including Vizio®, Word, etc.) to create an improved process flowchart. (This can be very simple, but show steps involved)
Use judgmental forecasting (your professional judgement) to ascertain how the future process will perform according to your metrics. (This should be where you predict how the future process would perform, and please quantify).
Develop a 525-word executive summary in which you describe your process improvement project (including the as-is process flowchart and the improved process flowchart into the word document).
Note: Students are reminded both Six Sigma readings and Lean Principles introduced in Week 2 are spread throughout the entire course.
