Write a paper that answers the following question:What one factor (for example, the economy, politics, government, technology, immigration, labor unions, etc.), one person or one event had the most substantial impact on the lives of American workers during the period 1914 to 1939?
In your paper, make sure to have a thesis (a general argument). Organize your paper into paragraphs. Each paragraph should have a central idea, set forth in a topic sentence. Support your thesis with facts from the reading for the course. (Do not do any outside research for this paper or rely on any sources from beyond the reading in the course.) Have a brief concluding paragraph that summarizes your thesis.
Avoid abstractions; ground your argument in fact. The best papers will use detailed facts from the course reading. Try to use primary as well as secondary sources. If you quote, quote only from primary sources. Try to consider counterarguments to your thesis.
