Student response
According to Heneman, H. G., Judge, T. & Kammeyer-Mueller, J. (2019) “Before deciding where and how to look for applicants, the organization must prepare for the high volume of data that accompanies the filling of vacancies. This high volume of data results in the of multiple sources to identify candidates (e.g. advertisements, walk-ins, employment agencies). Activities to undertake to source well-qualified candidates: Regional newspaper advertising, post job opening on company website, Request employee referrals, contact recruiter to further source candidates.” (Page 218). In my current role sourcing has become a priority of mine and as the market has changed it has become more and more challenging to source for good candidates. There are a variety of tools and different ways to source good qualified candidates like looking at the current employees and finding the talent that already exist by posting internally, promoting employee referrals, conducting networking events, local school and universities, job fairs, utilizing variations social media platforms and job sites and many more. In Talent Acquisition we just bought a few seat for LinkedIn Recruiter and it definitely has been a game changer for staffing. It not only allows us to reach anyone on linked in but is also allows us to do boolean searches, search different companies (competitors) and many other capabilities to assist us in recruiting. For a while we relied on just the job posting and hoping we generate the applicants needed but with this new candidate relationship management (CRM) that we purchased it has allowed us to be more proactive versus reactive in our efforts in finding the best qualified candidates.
