 Nutritional Care Plan for LG Evaluation of nutritional risk LG presents underdeveloped for a woman who is 32 weeks pregnant. Iron levels are low and weight is identical to the previous visit last week. If LG doesnt gain more weight (preferably 10 pounds) before the birth of the baby the baby can be born prematurely and underweight. Other risks for babies are breathing problems (respiratory distress syndrome), an increased risk of infection, and hypoglycaemia. To avoid potential herb/nutrient/ drug interactions, LG should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking anything due to risks of harming the baby. Specific food or beverages including dairy products can decrease the absorption of iron from the stomach (importance of iron supplements).
