Interview Questions: 10 points (5 interview questions total)

1. How is raising children today different from your parents? Or grandparents?

2. Describe ways in which you partner with your child’s teacher or day care provider? How do you establish a home-school partnership? What is the value of having a good relationship with your child’s teacher or day care provider (or if not currently in school – predict what you will do in the future)?

3. How have your discipline strategies changed over time? Ask for specific examples.

*Add two additional questions of your own design based on the chapter readings. Reference a page number for your interview questions. For example, “How are your children involved in making the family rules and maintaining their environment?” (Miller, pages 12-13).

Concluding Paragraph: 10 points

1. How do you think the interview went? Did you feel comfortable asking the questions? What did you learn about parenting today? If you could offer the parents any advice based on what you have learned in the class, what would it be?

2. Choose one of the following theorists and compare the theory to the child’s family. Piaget OR Erikson OR Maslow. Explain the specific age-based stage and give a specific example of how the parent interacts with their child based on that stage.

3. What are your concluding thoughts on discipline as it relates to parenting?

Remember papers must be double spaced with all the cover page information in the upper left hand corner. Your interview can state the question first, then the parent’s response. Your introductory paragraph and conclusion do not have to be numbered, simply use paragraph style. You must reference the textbook. (5 points)
