There are many ways to apply the concepts of this course to future career endeavors, especially with the tools that I have collected. Yet these tools of law and ethics can provide public health professionals with far-reaching powers to improve the health of communities. Their use, however, also raises ethical dilemmas, for example, social marketing campaigns might be effective in combating smoking or obesity but bring up negative stereotypes to make their points. In some situations, or circumstances, the rights of the larger population have taken precedence over the rights of the individual. Law and Ethics in Public Health provide you with the tools to decipher things at face value and show the importance of doing the least harm, respecting autonomy, showing compassion, being truthful, and seeking justice. This course was difficult, and I will most likely use some of the concepts that I have learned but I am glad to move on because of the demands of the course. As I said earlier, sometimes the rights of one are overlooked for the rights of many even though it is called Law and Ethics in Public Health with public being the key component.
