There are Two articles attached below:
1-Doyle claims that nuclear deterrence is “irrational, immoral, undemocratic and contradictory to human interests.”Explain, in detail, the arguments that Doyle advances to justify the 4 claims that nuclear deterrence is (1) irrational; (2) immoral; (3) undemocratic; and (4) contradictory to human interests. Explain whether you were persuaded by one, some, all, or none of Doyle’s 4 claims.Finally, do you agree with Doyle that “Humanity is capable of moving beyond the ideology of nuclear deterrence?”Explain why or why not.
2-Barracca presumes that some subset of the armed forces has seized power in a military coup.At this point, the military coup leaders must choose between establishing long-term rule or consolidating their power (the coup succeeds) or not consolidating their power (the coup fails). Identify the independent variables of relevance, and examine their specific role, in the decision making process that leads to the success or failure of a military coup.Do those same variables also seem to explain a failed coup attempt, as given in Seven Days in May? Answer yes or no and justify your answer. Explain the specific structure of Barracca’s analysis: what is his methodology for answering why some coups succeed and some coups fail?
