Incorporation of Technologies and Guests Experience During Events
Technology Discussion
Discuss how technology is changing the way attendees experience events. In your opinion is this is good or bad? As a planner, how can you effectively incorporate current technologies into your event while not distracting from the purpose of the event? Below are some articles that discuss some of the latest trends and technologies used at events, as well as some of the more current technologies used that you might research and discuss in your post (active URL links to the articles are in the learning module for this week).

You need to write your original post by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, and then reply to at least one other post by Friday at 11:59 PM. I want to see thoughtful, well-composed posts that are at a minimum of two paragraphs. You might define one of the technologies listed above, and then talk about how it is used in MEEC. You can find a video that demonstrates how it is used, etc. Please also address the questions above.
Here are example:
Social media are forms of electronic communication which enables users to share content or participate in social networking. Popular social media platforms that many people use today include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. This form of communication has changed the way people interact with one another, build relationships, and advertise products globally. It also has a great impact on the meetings and events industry because it offers meeting owners the ability to interact with attendees through a screen. Social media also provides them the opportunity to share their content to larger audiences. Meeting planners can easily keep track of the attendee activities during an event and collect valuable feedback after the event as well. It also serves them the advantage of being able to distribute more content through apps that will help attract more attendees to the event that is being held.
Today, many event planners use social media to promote an event. They often set up a Facebook event which allows potential attendees to subscribe to the event to get more information about it. Twitter is a great social media platform to promote an event because event planners can create a unique hashtag specifically for their event. If the hashtag is popular enough, it will become a trend making everyone talking about it. Adding an event to the events page on LinkedIn will inform professionals in the industry about the event too. Through these social media platforms, people will gain the knowledge of the event making it more considerable to attend.
Technology is changing the way attendees experience events because they are able to communicate with people at the event without having to be there in person. For example, if a guest speaker is not able to attend an event in person, they can easily call a person at the event to talk to the attendees through a virtual meeting. Attendees are also able to post pictures and videos showing their time at the event. However, many people do not know how to limit themselves when using social media platforms. They tend to be so focused with posting pictures on Instagram that it takes away from their overall experience.
I believe that although technology makes it easier for attendees to communicate with one another, the impact of it is detrimental because they may forget how to interact with people face to face. As an event planner, in order to effectively incorporate current technologies into my event while not distracting from the purpose of the event is to use it wisely and not as frequent. I would encourage attendees to silence and or turn their phones off during the event so they can fully engage in what it is about. There will also be a time where I would allow them to use their technological devices to take pictures and videos of whatever they want so they can share their experiences on social media.
