Step 1
Read the article Technology in the Classroom and WIDA Essential Actions Handbook p.11 (Figure E).
The WIDA FOCUS ON bulletin ties to WIDA Standards. WIDA Standards exist to promote equity for ELLs by providing a way to bridge the gap between the classroom and the “real world.” Technology is a valuable resource in the classroom. It allows students to find a connection between the classroom and their lives outside of school. In addition, it also allows ELLs (English Language Learners) a way to participate without such a large language barrier.
Step 2 Reflect on the article and keep in mind that technology tools can provide platforms for language development by providing students with opportunities that are meaningful, as well as facilitating student experiences and language learning.
Step 3 Select a technology tool that you are planning to use in the classroom or have already used and complete the Evaluating Tech Tool Template.
