Read the following description of a research project carefully.
Description of Experiment
Since ancient times, plant extracts have been used to control food poisoning diseases and preserve foodstuff. You want to conduct a research project to investigate the in vitro antibacterial activity of extracts from some selected plants against highly susceptible strains of food borne pathogenic bacteria. You will first obtain samples of different plants and do a solvent extraction to get the extracts. Then you will prepare plates of agar and microbial culture, and drop various concentrations of different types of extracts into the plate. You will then investigate how much colonies will grow after 48 hours.
Based on the description above, prepare a research proposal document. The proposal should be written in MS Word with proper heading and formatting; file name; font size etc. (20 marks). It should also include references (at least 3 good references and using the CA guidelines on Referencing). (10 marks)
In your research proposal, you need to minimally address the following under the relevant section.
1.Hypothesis and variables (including 2 controls)
2.Literature review on at least 2 related topics
3.Methodology in carrying out the project
4.At least two ways to ensure that the data is reliable and valid
