I need a website that is linked to an access database created for a fictitious medical office called Aspire Medical Center (AMC). AMC was a GP medical facility that started with three doctors, but, over the last 10 years, the center has grown and now offers specialized services in obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology, and dermatology. With the most recent addition of the ophthalmology and dermatology departments, the original staff size of 8 has almost tripled and is projected to quadruple within two years.
AMC offers a variety of medical services in each field that includes consultations, evaluations, and in or outpatient surgery. Due to the many services provided, the Center currently has three different schedules for consultations and evaluations, outpatient surgery, and inpatient surgery that do not use the same platform and cannot be synced. During the scheduling process of a new or current patient, the receptionist must schedule the patient, book an exam or surgery room, and send the patient’s medical records to the right location via courier. With a high volume of appointments, the receptionist only has a few minutes to complete the scheduling process.
Despite AMC’s rapid growth, they do not have a singular database that reflects immediate changes and the user is unable to see a physician’s entire schedule. The inefficient process causes a substantial amount of loss for AMC in terms of maximum use of time and the substantial amount of money spent on courier fees.
The database will allow users to review all of the schedules simultaneously and schedule patients quickly. However, to increase efficiency, a web page can be created to allow new and existing patients to view and book available consultation times.
Once a time slot fills up, then it will immediately be known as unavailable to everybody else. This dramatically reduces the amount double scheduling in the system and dramatically decreases customer dissatisfaction. To make it even easier on everyone involved, we need to make a column for each department and within that department, will tell what doctors are available and the times available. For example, there will be one for obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology, and dermatology. The doctors will be listed, along with the times that are available. For example, if Dr. John Doe of the pediatrics department works Monday through Thursday from 7AM to 5PM, then that will be displayed in the text. The times of appointments available will be mentioned when clicking on him for appointment. That will be the case for pretty much every doctor who works at AMC. The only difference between Dr. John Doe and the other doctors would be the days and times they work. Other than that, it will be practically in the same format.
All the doctor/patient data can be dummy data but it should have at least 15-20 doctors to choose from and an existing patient list of 100-150. The calendar should be loaded with existing schedules so that during the “˜test’ of the database, we can select times and be blocked from selecting times due to an already booked appointment.
