Being prepared for the future is critical in ensuring that health care professionals can continue to have improved patient outcomes. Patient activation takes patient education and responsibility to the next level. Patients are given the tools and then they apply them and become responsible for their ongoing care.

The major shift towards the implementation of an integrated delivery system that coordinates care more efficiently, creates smoother transitions, and controls cost.

One clear goal that would inspire and motivate other allied health professions during the shortage of health care professionals.

STATEMENT ON THE INTEGRATION
OF FAITH AND WORK
“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our
hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” (Psalm 90:17).
A
s a university, we believe that the message of Jesus Christ
bears profound implications, not only for individuals, but
also for society and the ways that we as individuals live
within it. The Lord Jesus instructed His followers to live
as salt and light within society, which implies a call to live out our lives
in ways that contribute to the common good. We are convinced that
this call extends to the workplace and that our respective vocations
represent vital opportunities to glorify God by serving others in ways
that promote human flourishing. Therefore, by God’s grace, we seek to
distinguish ourselves as a university by instilling a sense of vocational
calling and purpose in our students, faculty and staff in accord with
the following principles:
WE BELIEVE that God’s Word speaks authoritatively about creation,
fall and redemption as well as the restoration of all things through
Christ Jesus. Therefore, we are convinced that the Christian
worldview offers hope of restoration, not only for individuals, but
also for families, communities and societies in which individuals live,
work and serve one another.
WE BELIEVE that God the Almighty created the world, placed
human beings within it and blessed them by making them responsible
for cultivating and caring for creation. Therefore, we are assured that
our work within the world matters to God and our neighbors, and
that we honor God by serving others in ways that promote human
flourishing.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is both Savior and Lord and that all
who follow Jesus should seek His Kingdom and His righteousness
in relation to all aspects of human experience, including culture
and society. Therefore, we have resolved to carry out our work
within the public arena with compassion, justice and concern for
the common good.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection secured
abundant and eternal life for all who believe and that Christ
transforms all that we say and do. Therefore, we are convinced that
Grand Canyon University should positively impact those who study
at, work for and live near the university in ways that accord with the
teachings of Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE that mankind was originally created in the image of
God and given responsibility over creation, but that all have failed to
fulfill their God-given purpose and responsibility. We believe that God
redeems and restores men and women in Christ, creating them anew
for the good works He has prepared them to do. Therefore, we are
confident that the work we do is a part of God’s calling on our lives
and a means by which we can glorify God as we meet others’ needs.
WE BELIEVE that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for
salvation and that the work of God’s Spirit in the human heart
invariably results in renewed purpose and the growth of Christ-like
love for neighbors and neighborhoods. Therefore, we are certain that
God is working to restore the broken lives and communities of this
fallen world through the collective gifts, talents, skills and resources of
those who have been transformed by the power of the gospel.
WE BELIEVE that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone and
involves redemption of the whole person. Therefore, we are convinced
that the Christian life must involve compassion and care, not only for
the spiritual needs of mankind, but also for basic physical needs that
stem from poverty, oppression and injustice.
WE BELIEVE in the spiritual unity of all believers in Christ and that
evangelism and societal engagement are duties of the Christian life.
Therefore, we are devoted to demonstrating the love of Jesus together
as we share the gospel message and shape society according to the
principles of His Kingdom.
WE BELIEVE that the gospel message denounces evil and injustice
while offering hope for reconciliation to Christ and the restoration
of human culture and society through Him. Therefore, we recognize
and embrace the potential of human work for furthering the greater
good and strive to further the good of the culture and the society
through education and the embodiment of biblical principles related

Typing Template for APA Papers: A Sample of Proper Formatting for APA Style
This is an electronic template for papers written according to the style of the American
Psychological Association (APA, 2020) as outlined in the seventh edition of the Publication
Manual of the American Psychological Association. The purpose of the template is to help
students set the margins and spacing. Margins are set at 1 inch for top, bottom, left, and right.
The text is left-justified only; that means the left margin is straight, but the right margin is
ragged. Each paragraph is indented 0.5 inch. It is best to use the tab key to indent, or set a firstline indent in the paragraph settings. The line spacing is double throughout the paper, even on the
reference page. One space is used after punctuation at the end of sentences. The font style used
in this template is Times New Roman and the font size is 12 point. This font and size is required
for GCU papers.
The Section Heading
The heading above would be used if you want to have your paper divided into sections
based on content. This is a Level 1 heading, and it is centered and bolded, and the initial word
and each word of four or more letters is capitalized. The heading should be a short descriptor of
the section. Note that not all papers will have headings or subheadings in them. Papers for
beginning undergraduate courses (100 or 200 level) will generally not need headings beyond
Level 1. The paper title serves as the heading for the first paragraph of the paper, so
“Introduction” is not used as a heading.
Subsection Heading
The subheading above would be used if there are several sections within the topic labeled
in a first level heading. This is a Level 2 heading, and it is flush left and bolded, and the initial
word and each word of four or more letters is capitalized.

Subsection Heading
APA dictates that you should avoid having only one subsection heading and subsection
within a section. In other words, use at least two subheadings under a main heading, or do not
use any at all. Headings are used in order, so a paper must use Level 1 before using Level 2. Do
not adjust spacing to change where on the page a heading falls, even if it would be the last line
on a page.
The Title Page
When you are ready to write, and after having read these instructions completely, you can
delete these directions and start typing. The formatting should stay the same. You will also need
to change the items on the title page. Fill in your own title, name, course, college, instructor, and
date. List the college to which the course belongs, such as College of Theology, College of
Business, or College of Humanities and Social Sciences. GCU uses three letters and numbers
with a hyphen for course numbers, such as CWV-101 or UNV-104. The date should be written
as Month Day, Year. Spell out the month name.
Formatting References and Citations
APA Style includes rules for citing resources. The Publication Manual (APA, 2020) also
discusses the desired tone of writing, grammar, punctuation, formatting for numbers, and a
variety of other important topics. Although APA Style rules are used in this template, the
purpose of the template is only to demonstrate spacing and the general parts of the paper. GCU
has prepared an APA Style Guide available in the Student Success Center and on the GCU
Library’s Citing Sources in APA guide (https://libguides.gcu.edu/APA) for help in correctly
formatting according to APA Style.

The reference list should appear at the end of a paper. It provides the information
necessary for a reader to locate and retrieve any source you cite in the body of the paper. Each
source you cite in the paper must appear in your reference list; likewise, each entry in the
reference list must be cited in your text. A sample reference page is included below. This page
includes examples of how to format different reference types. The first reference is to a webpage
without a clear date, which is common with organizational websites (American Nurses
Association, n.d.). Next is the Publication Manual referred to throughout this template (APA,
2020). Notice that the manual reference includes the DOI number, even though this is a print
book, as the DOI was listed on book, and does not include a publisher name since the publisher
is also the author. A journal article reference will also often include a DOI, and as this article has
four authors, only the first would appear in the in-text citation (Copeland et al., 2013).
Government publications like the Treatment Improvement Protocol series documents from the
Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (2014) are another common source found online. A book
without a DOI is the last example (Holland & Forrest, 2017).
