DISEASE FACT SHEETS ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
For this assignment, you will select three infectious diseases for each of the Disease Fact Sheet
Assignments. For the first assignment, you will choose three diseases from Category A, for the
second, three diseases from Category B, and for the third, three diseases from Category C. The
list of diseases comes from the Disease Fact Sheet: National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Disease (NIAID) Reference List. Students will thus create three fact sheets of three
diseases each for a total of nine diseases throughout the course.
INSTRUCTIONS
In modules 3, 5, and 8, you will choose three infectious diseases (from Categories A, B, and C
respectively).
Each assignment submission will include three disease fact sheets in the form of a single
horizontal PowerPoint slide. The informational content in each fact sheet must be constructed
with evidence from credible sources (peer-reviewed journal articles, books) and/or, authoritative
organizational websites, such as the CDC, FDA, National Institutes of Health (NIH)/ National
Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID, etc. See the Disease Fact Sheet
Example/Template for a sample of what your sheets might look like, but please feel free to be
creative with your layout, providing all essential content is incorporated in your fact sheet
design. Each fact sheet must contain the following essential information:
the infectious agent (include family, genus, and species)
transmission
clinical features (signs and symptoms, etc.)
laboratory diagnosis
treatment
geographic distribution
population affected/at risk, occurrence (geographic distribution), and confirmed or
estimated annual incidence of human cases.

Be sure to place your name and course number on the slides as shown on the sample slide.
Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
I have already done assignment 1, category A, so now you are doing for category B and C. Each
category has to be submitted in a 1-page word document with the information used in the slides,
and 3 slides, a single disease per slide. So you need to submit four files in total. Five academic
sources for each
