Project topic will be; develop a mobile app that helps healthcare professionals and students understand and practice Mechanical Ventilation techniques. This app may include interactive simulations, educational resources and case studies.Also, the app could incorporate real-time feedback features to help users improve their ventilation techniques. May in cloud instant feedback on parameters like tidal volume, respiratory rate and peak inspiratory pressure, providing guidance on how to optimize ventilation settings for patients.

POVERTY is hard to define, but according the
United States Census Bureau….
? “In 2012, the official poverty rate was 15.0 percent.
There were 46.5 million people in poverty.”
? “However, between 2011 and 2012, the number of
people in poverty did increase for people aged 65 and
older, people living in the South, and people living
outside metropolitan statistical areas.”
? “The poverty rate in 2012 for children under age 18

According to the National Coalition for the
HOMELESS…. “homelessness is impossible to measure
with 100% accuracy” Thus the following are rough
estimates only.
“In 2003, children under the age of 18 accounted for 39%
of the homeless population.”
“In 2007, 23% of all homeless people were members of
families with children.”
“one out of every three homeless men who is sleeping in
a doorway, alley or box in our cities and rural communities
has put on a uniform and served this country.”
“20 to 25% of the homeless population in the United
States suffers from some form of severe mental illness”

Not all people who live in poverty or are homeless are
lazy people who simply need to “get a job.” Nor all
they all addicts or alcoholics. (But I will admit some
of them are.)
? Some who struggle are families with children.
? From my personal experience working with the
homeless in New York City, I learned that some of
them actually have jobs but still can’t afford the basic
necessities of life.

homeless get the respiratory care they need.

My project involves the creation of a document
that can be given to low-income or homeless
people in the Atlanta area who struggle with
respiratory issues.
? It will include the following:

? Locations of places to get assistance
? Information on the most common respiratory diseases.
? Listings of organizations that can help
? It will be geared toward the patient’s themselves and
not the providers.
Although not specifically geared toward healthcare
providers, they could possibly take part in its
distribution.
? The document will be written at a level lay people can
understand.
? I will also include information on preventative
strategies to keep patients from going to the doctor,
to the ER, or (worst-case scenario) to an inpatient bed
in a hospital.

Obviously go to an Emergency Room, but GRADY is the
best choice if possible.
Grady is the best choice for poverty-stricken or homeless
people.
Obviously, if a situation needs an immediate intervention,
call 911 or find someone who can.
Never assume hypochondria (or something similar) in a
stranger.
? For example, I do much schoolwork/studying at Starbucks. Once
a homeless man came into the facility complaining of chest pain.
Despite skepticism from some of the patrons, including a cardiac
nurse and myself, the current shift supervisor of the SB’s did not
hesitate to call for an ambulance. If the facility had not done so, I
would have.
Grady has it’s very own asthma and allergy clinic.
