Proper Use of AI Assignment
Objective:
The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize students with the ethical considerations
surrounding the use of artificial intelligence, AI, like ChatGPT; and to encourage responsible and
effective interactions.
Note: This is an introduction to information technology course. You are expected to use
technology tools. AI is the newest technology tool. You may use it ethically for assignments in
this course. When you use it, you must provide a proper citation. You must also provide the
prompt you entered into the AI and a statement reflecting on what you thought of the result to
your prompt. Any use AI for an assignment in this course, INT 1010, that does not follow these
rules will be considered plagiarism, given a zero and reported to the college for disciplinary
action.
Instructions:
Part 1: Introduction
Begin by researching and providing a brief overview of artificial intelligence generally, AI, and
ChatGPT specifically. Include information about its history, capabilities, purpose, and the
technology behind it.
Part 2: Ethical Considerations
Explore the ethical considerations related to the use of ChatGPT. Think about potential issues
such as bias, misinformation, and the responsibility of users when interacting with AI.
Part 3: Use Cases
Identify positive use cases of ChatGPT in various PGCC courses such as INT 1111, ART 2700,
EGL 1010; and in fields such as education, business, healthcare, etc. Think critically about the
potential risks and benefits.
Part 4: Guidelines for Ethical Use
Develop a set of guidelines for the ethical use of ChatGPT. Include recommendations on
avoiding misinformation, respectful communication, and awareness of potential biases.
Emphasize the importance of being responsible users. Include at least 4 guidelines. One
guideline must be an example of how to properly cite ChatGPT in a bibliography.
Part 5: Practical Application
Use ChatGPT or the Chat feature of the Bing search engine in the Edge web browser to under a
prompt while adhering to the ethical guidelines you have developed. Record the prompt, the
answer given and fact-check the answer.
Part 6: Reflection
Write a reflective paragraph and/or bulleted list discussing the experience of this assignment on
using AI. Include the following in your reflection:
