Final Project: Transcript Notes and Agenda Instructions
Your final project will be a PowerPoint presentation that includes a complete transcription in the notes section. This module/week, you will submit the transcript of exactly what you will say for the PowerPoint presentation and provide the agenda you will give to those in attendance. Be sure to read the instructions for the final project as well.
For the first part of the final project, you will submit your script concerning what training information you are presenting in your PowerPoint for Module/Week 8. Your transcript must give a detailed discussion (the script) of what you intend to say in your PowerPoint and how long you will be discussing each point. Example: Slide 1 = 4 minutes
Your time increments for the entire presentation must equal about 3035 minutes total. This includes the transcription for each slide (at least 20 slides, but no more than 30 slides) to be completed in Module/Week 8. This is not including title and reference slides, time for the audience to process what is presented on the slide (related to what is in the transcription or an extension to continue to make a point or give the audience something to remember about what is being said), and any activities the audience will be asked to do as part of the presentation.
Review the instructions for the final part of the presentation along with this to make sure all requirements are met.
By preparing the transcript ahead of time, good choices can be made for what is presented on the PowerPoint slides. Be sure to provide citations to give credit for ideas you are using in the transcript and include a reference page.
This assignment also requires the creation of an agenda for your PowerPoint gifted training presentation. The agenda must include any interaction you plan to have with the audience and any additional comments you would like to make that will not be presented through the slides. It is a good idea to provide a time for questions and even a brief activity to engage the audience in your presentation.
Think of the agenda as what is given to the audience. It must be in a format that allows them to see an overview of the presentation, allows note taking, and may be used as a reminder of the presentation itself. The agenda is an important and powerful tool to help the audience remember what took place during the presentation.
Final Project: Part 2 Gifted Leadership/Training Project Instructions
For the final project, you will submit a PowerPoint presentation of at least 20, but no more than 30, slides (not including the title and reference slides) intended to inform the audience about best practices learned in this course that you wish to share with your school or school system. The presentation will be used to introduce, explain, and instruct others about appropriate educational strategies for gifted learners. This might start with proposing one of the models we studied and demonstrate how the strategies are used to support the model structure. Another possibility might be to restructure honors courses based upon what you have learned to be best practices for creating these courses. You might also create an honors course and propose it to the school system. Pretend you are trying to actually persuade the school system/school to adopt the best practice. Another proposal/training could be that you want to introduce co-teaching to support new teachers in teaching gifted learners.
All presentations must answer the following:
· Why do you consider this to be a good fit/idea for the school/school system?
· Is it affordable/a good investment?
· What instructional methods will be used?
· How does this incorporate character education?
Include a slide that lists at least 5 references in current APA format. Between the transcription/speakers notes and the PowerPoint, there must be a total of at least 20 citations for ideas or direct quotes.
Submit this assignment by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 7.
