For this weeks reflection paper, consider the experiences of the students who attended (and still attend) minority serving institutions (such as Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs), Womens Colleges, and Tribal Colleges (amongst others).
Using the source materials, consider what you might see as the benefits and drawbacks of attendance at such institutions. What questions do the readings and resources bring up for you about the experiences of those who have historically been excluded from mainstream (read: predominantly white and male) education. Be sure to directly reference this week’s sources.

Read Chapter 1 of Women’s Colleges in the United States , which provides an account of the establishment and expansion of women’s colleges in the United States.
Read Women’s Access and Opportunity – Moore (1987). Moore provides a historical overview of women’s access to higher education.
